A Prayer for the Weary Caregiver | Your Nightly Prayer

Caregiving often happens in ordinary moments that few people see.

It happens while preparing another meal, organizing medication, answering a late-night call, driving to an appointment, or sitting beside someone who is afraid.

It happens through interrupted sleep, changed plans, difficult decisions, and responsibilities that cannot simply be postponed.

You may care for the person deeply and still feel exhausted.

You may be grateful for the opportunity to help while quietly grieving how much life has changed.

You may feel compassion one moment and frustration the next.

Those mixed emotions do not make you a bad caregiver.

They make you human.

Caregiving can become so focused on another person’s needs that you lose sight of your own. You may tell yourself that there is no time to rest, no room to feel, and no one else who can do what must be done.

But your limits are not evidence of failure.

They are reminders that you were never meant to carry every need alone.

God sees the work others miss. He knows what caregiving is costing you, and His compassion extends to you as fully as it extends to the person you serve.

“Come to Me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.” — Matthew 11:28
