Marriage, despite what television shows and movies might lead you to believe, is not easy. Well, she forgets that they are married at all, or when she completely forgets the name of the person whom her buddy is married to, and, as she explains it, it makes perfect sense.

“The only way you know someone has a good marriage is if you never hear anything about it,” she said. “My girlfriends, who are in good marriages, they never mention the husband. Like, I don’t even know if he’s still there. That’s a really good sign.”

The thinking goes that if her friends weren’t in good marriages, they would be complaining about her husband and how unhappy she is about the whole situation. That is not happening here, and therefore, it must mean that her friends are in happy marriages.

Stand-up comedy is not an easy field in which to make a living. Most comics, before they ever gain any fame or following, have to cut their teeth at open mic nights, going from club to club. That can be something they do for years. And even then, success is not promised.

Some sets will go great, while in other instances, comics will bomb or get little to no laughs. Making it in the comedy world requires a lot of tenacity and perseverance. Being funny, making people laugh themselves silly regularly, will also go a long way since that is pretty much the only job description for a stand-up comic.

If you weren’t already aware, the United States of America is a massive country. It spans thousands of miles, from the Atlantic Ocean to the Pacific Ocean. They are also, usually in a very derisive and dismissive manner, called Flyover Country, or the Flyover States. But the Midwest is not a part of the country to miss. It has so much to offer. Plus, the people are so genuine and welcoming – Midwest nice is real.

If you’re from the Midwest or spent any significant amount of time in the area, nearly all of their statements and jokes will resonate with you.

Stress, anxiety and worry are, unfortunately, part of life. Everyone likely experiences them at various times and points throughout the day. So, how does one lessen stress and anxiety? Well, not being a medical professional myself, I’m not qualified to give anyone advice on how to best do this. However, personally, it would seem to me that one way, likely the most obvious, to achieve this would be to remove oneself from situations likely to induce feelings of overwhelming panic and anxiety, or at least that’s what I would do. That makes sense, right?

In a clip posted on YouTube, a woman was given a directive by her therapist. This mother and wife was told by her therapist that she needed “to let all my stress out.” That seems like good, sound and healthy advice. No one needs more stress than is absolutely necessary.

However, no one saw this woman’s next move, and how she decided to let all her stress out. It was truly hilarious.

After a few seconds of standing in front of her front door, she opened the door, and people started making their exits, leaving the house. Three children and a man, who is likely her husband, all walked outside.

But that was not all. She was not done letting all of her stress just yet. The family’s dog was also directed to exit the house, at least temporarily, anyway.

These people are lovingly, or maybe not so lovingly, called “picky eaters.” For instance, I will not eat cheese, and before you ask, yes, that includes every kind and type of cheese.

Americans are blessed when it comes to food. We have an abundance, and some people even enjoy cuisines such as Mexican, Chinese and Thai. Zoltan is one of those people who loves Thai food, or at least he thought he did.

In a clip posted on YouTube, the comedian mentioned that he recently visited Thailand. Being a lover of Thai food, Zoltan understandably thought he’d been in food heaven. But that wasn’t exactly what happened.

“We flew 32 hours for me to find out I don’t really like Thai food,” he said. “I was so shocked ‘cause I thought I loved Thai food. I love Thai food here in the United States. I have it all the time. Tom Kha Soup. Coconut milk soup. That’s my favorite soup.”

Later in the clip, he mentioned that when he finally tried Thai food there, his reaction was less than pleasant.

“I had it there, and I was, like, ‘You’re making it wrong! Like, where can I get it authentic? Where do you guys make it authentic?’ I wish I was making that up. That’s exactly who I was over there.”

One of the ways children test their parents’ will and resolve is during mealtime. Getting a child to eat is like pulling teeth. However, the youngster, despite all of mom’s concerted effort, refuses to cooperate, choosing to put up a fight at every move.

In the video, the woman, playing both roles, is a mother and a child, and the two go back and forth in a battle of wills over lunch. Mom wants nothing more than for her child to eat, and the little one does everything she can to aggravate and annoy her mother.

Again, most parents can very much relate to this situation, likely having lived through these exact scenarios.

Being able to work the land so it grows and produces food and flowers is most certainly a skill. Not everyone possesses those specific talents and knowledge; having a green thumb does not come standard. Some people, me included, wouldn’t know the first thing about gardening. Thank God there are people who do, because without them we would starve.

Now, for whatever reason, there were people who seemed to look down on those who, instead of going to the grocery store for everything, grew their own food. Perhaps that practice was denigrated and disparaged because it was seen as something for the poor. Whatever the case may have been, according to Derrick, that is no longer how people see gardening and farming.

Why is that the case? Well, as Derrick points out, documenting and posting about your gardening exploits on social media will get you attention.

“Did you know that growing your own plants, watering your own vegetables, is now a hobby?” Derrick asked. “I’m telling you all. You get two ferns, three cactuses, get on Instagram, look at the followers.”

Later in the clip, Derrick admits that he doesn’t really appreciate this social media trend.

“That hurts my feelings,” he confessed. “In Alabama, I grew up with a 10-acre garden, and everybody I would tell about it would donate to my family. There was nothing cool about growing your own tomatoes.”

Derrick’s hilarious bit points out how much social media has changed and influenced everything we do. We seemingly cannot do anything without posting about it and seeking affirmation and acknowledgment for it on social media, even growing a garden.

However, while you are recovering, trying to get over that cold or flu, or whatever you’ve been infected with, there are over-the-counter remedies available to assist in the healing and recovery process. But I think we are all forgetting one we are all familiar with, have surely used and probably still use today: VapoRub.

In the hilarious skit from John Crist, the person from no business or organization, their number cruncher, ominously enters the room. He then starts laying down some hard financial truths, including the high cost the church incurs per salvation. It’s something that no one ever wants to hear.

“You can’t put a price on salvation,” John and his fellow church employee say in unison.

“Actually, you can,” the CFO responds. “Our outreach and advertising program combined with our Sunday morning cost, the underwater film crew for the baptistry, our model show new salvation cost $22,457.31.”

Each region of the country has things it’s known for; characteristics and traits that help set it apart from all the others. Those who reside in the Northeast are known for their thick, heavy Boston and New York accents. Midwesterners really are nice people who will go out of their way to help you, even when it inconveniences them. Being considered unfriendly, impolite or inhospitable would be a nightmare scenario for a Midwesterner.

The next thing you know, companies will hold a meeting to discuss holding meetings. And I’m guessing, sadly, there are already workplaces that do this.

Technology is constantly improving and advancing. We are always looking for better and more efficient ways of doing this and that. However, as with most things in life, the great and wondrous advances in technology also come with downsides. Sure, if used properly, they can be an excellent tool for communicating with one another and for disseminating uplifting and encouraging messages and items. But as well know, 99.9 percent of the time, they often aren’t used in such a manner. That’s not even mentioning the often nefarious and sinister objectives of the large corporations that own those platforms.

However, have there been any negative impacts because of technology? Of course, there have been. For one, people have come to rely on technology so much that when it's unavailable or stops working, we literally don’t know what to do without it. Also, most people would rather send a text or an email than have an in-person, face-to-face conversation with another human being. What are we doing?

So, if you call yourself a Christian, it’s probably a good idea to act like one, and not just on Sunday morning, but throughout the rest of the week.

“I called this woman from my church,” he said. “I didn’t realize it at the time, but I found out that she was a part-time Christian. Yeah, and apparently, I called her on her day off.”

Mike said the woman answered the phone with “an attitude” and some rather colorful, profane language.

As soon as Mike identified himself as someone who attended her church, her demeanor and language completely changed. If we call ourselves something, it’s a good idea to make sure our actions and attitudes match that title.

A comedian gave his hilarious take on people who are so sure of themselves – and so wrong. The funnyman Kirk Smith mentioned that he loves interacting with people who are extremely confident but clearly have no idea what they are talking about, given how very wrong they are about the subject. Let’s be honest, there are situations in which all of us would be much better off simply keeping our mouths shut and not sharing our thoughts and opinions. Why? Well, much like that quote often credited to Mark Twain, “It’s better to remain silent and thought a fool than to speak and remove all doubt.” That seems like pretty simple, straightforward and easy-to-follow advice.

But as many horribly misspelled and ill-informed posts on social media have proven, that is much easier said than done. Many people, for whatever reason, believe that because they have the ability to share their every thought and opinion on every subject imaginable, they should do so. Of course, they should not, but when has being wrong and badly misinformed ever stopped anyone before?

In a clip posted on YouTube, Kirk mentioned that he thoroughly enjoys talking with someone who is overly confident about something they know nothing about. He likes to let them talk and during the conversation, they go on to prove their extreme lack of knowledge.

“I was telling one of my buddies, like, ‘Oh, I do the cruise, and then I get off in Sweden, and fly home,’” he said. “And he goes, ‘Oh, cool, Sweden, the Alps. Bring me some chocolate.’ And if you’re not laughing, that’s Switzerland.”

Later in the clip, Kirk mentioned that he tried to correct his pal’s geographical error, but he wasn't having it.

“And so, I go, ‘No, that’s Switzerland. Different country,’” he recalled. “He goes, ‘No, it’s not. Same country. Two different names.’ Continue. ‘Yeah, you know, like The Netherlands and Germany.’”

This funny breakdown of middle-child life is spot-on. In quick, rapid-fire succession, he mentions scenarios and situations that perfectly demonstrate how the middle child often gets treated growing up. Everyone has their fair share of struggles and problems growing up. Life is not always easy or even fair, in many cases. Those hoping and expecting a life free of problems or challenges will be severely disappointed. Most people quickly learn this lesson, often during childhood.

Kids are not always the kindest people in the world. In fact, kids are often cruel to one another for seemingly no apparent reason other than they can be mean. But growing up can be even more difficult when you’re a middle child. The middle child often gets overlooked. Sure, everyone remembers to include the oldest because they are the firstborn. The youngest child, the baby, is also considered in everything. But when it comes to the middle child, that’s a completely different story.

In a clip posted on YouTube, a woman imagines hysterical scenarios in which the middle child is forgotten. Her imaginary situations, statements, and replies are so hilarious and feel so real that she herself must be a middle child.

“I’ve been ‘Hey, you’ my whole life,” she says.

“I asked my momma where my baby teeth were, and she said, ‘They ain’t still in your mouth?’” she added.

“They asked me to take the family picture,” she said. “I said, ‘Ain’t I in it?’ They said, ‘Oh, well, you can be.’”

“I introduced myself to my own mee-maw last Thanksgiving,” she said. “She said, ‘Nice to meet you.’”

If you’re a middle child, hopefully her jokes don’t bring up bad memories. Still, middle children often seem to get the short end of the stick.

Proverbs 22:6 “If a child is trained up in the right way, even when he is old, he will not be turned away from it.”

A husband told his wife this, putting himself in a terrible situation. He began telling a story, and after the first couple of words, he immediately regretted it. Marriage is complicated, and anyone who says otherwise is wrong, incredibly naïve or isn’t married. It’s a relationship that requires constant, consistent effort and perseverance. Not every day in a marriage is going to be great. But if either party isn’t willing to put in the work necessary, then that relationship is doomed to fail.

Now, while it’s true that every marriage requires work, communication is also paramount. There is no way to have and maintain a relationship with someone without talking to them. When there is no communication, there is no relationship. It ceases to exist.

However, communication is not always easy, especially in a marriage. Wires and messages can get crossed, and people can misunderstand one another, which will always lead to problems until they are sorted out. Also, the words someone says, particularly in a marriage, need to be taken into account. Most husbands have a way of saying things that gets them in trouble. It’s at that point that a wife will ask their husband a question and regardless of what the husband says, it’s the wrong answer. That is exactly what happened in a YouTube clip.

In the video, a husband starts recalling a trip to the gym. While at the gym, the husband states that he spotted a woman who looked exactly like his wife. It was at that point that his wife pounced, asking him a single question that cornered him.

There was no right way for him to answer her question, and he knew it. Whatever he said would be incorrect. Every husband has been in a similar situation. Whatever he says is wrong and is going to end with him sleeping on the couch.

Mike Goodwin shared his son’s hysterical reaction to animals. The funnyman mentioned that his youngster has a particular and rather strange way of responding whenever he spots a member of the wildlife community. As every parent knows, children love animals. Of course, those little ones have a favorite animal or five that they insist on telling you about constantly, but, for the most part, they love all animals. I mean, who doesn’t love animals, right? How could you not? They are some of the cutest things on this planet.

However, children have a deep appreciation for animals that is, without a doubt, much deeper than that of most adults. In fact, one could easily say that children adore those cute, four-legged, furry critters. It’s almost guaranteed that if you have a pet and a young child, the child will be drawn to that creature. Those two will soon become inseparable, spending nearly every moment with one another.

Some children, though, express their excitement about seeing animals and their love of animals in different, much louder ways. In a YouTube clip, Mike shared the unusual and hysterical way his son reacts whenever he spots an animal.

“He would say ‘animal’ as if he worked at Moe’s Southwest Grill,” Mike said. “That’s how my son would say. Whenever we see an animal, this is exactly what my son would do: ‘Daddy, animoe! Animoe, daddy!’”

But that isn’t all Mike’s son would do when he saw an animal. The comedian mentions that his little one made these familiar noises to accompany his finding.

“And he must have learned ‘Old McDonald’ at school because every time he said the name of the animal, he would have to make the noise that the animal makes. So, we were just walking through the neighborhood one day, my son had an outburst. ‘Animoe! Animoe, daddy, dog (starts barking)!”
